Winter Wonderland Starter block

This block is currently on its travels around the globe in a
round robin project (2006).  I am eagerly waiting for it to come back,
so I can see all the gorgeous embellishment that everyone has added.

Round Robins (RR) are group projects.  Each person makes a basic patchwork block, often with a theme in mind.  I have worked on many different ones, Sea Kingdom, Sweet Hearts, Floral Rhapsody ..... to name just a few.  When the RR starts, the blocks are sent round the group following a rotation list and when a block arrives through the post, each person works on one patch and one seam.  When they are done, the block is sent on to the next person on the list.

After a couple of months your own block returns home again, but this time it is covered with beautiful embroidery and embellishment.  I have many blocks in my Collection, destined for various projects
- wallhangings, cushions, purse, bags ..... and of course they are a wonderful resource which I use in my Workshops and Quilt Talks.

I love working in these Round Robins and I have made many very good friends through the groups I have joined via www.  It's exciting when a new RR starts and the blocks start arriving - there is always something new to see
Either a new stitch - or a new technique - or fabrics and threads which you've never seen before!

And it makes you think ... hmmmm .... I'd like to try that out sometime .....

Watch this space to see how my Winter Wonderland block turns out J
